Runks has a passion for Christ and a passion for people. A true evangelist at heart, he has a deep desire to preach the Good News of Jesus Christ to this crazy world we’re living in. Runks is a master at communicating the Gospel with clarity, relevance, and depth. His passion for the Gospel, knowledge of the Word of God, and off the charts energy will inspire your students and adult to love Jesus, follow Jesus, and share Jesus! He absolutely believes that the power of the Gospel is still the power of Gospel and no matter how crazy antagonistic our culture may seem to be towards the Gospel it is still the power of God for salvation for all people. So Runks, in his own unique way, unashamedly and refreshingly preaches the Gospel with passion and relevance. However, Runks’ message is not just about getting saved (trusting Christ), it’s about being saved (finding your identity in Christ), living saved (growing in relationship with Christ), and getting more people saved. etc. etc. etc. etc. ad infinitum
Jesus saves y’all!! Nothing else matters!
Runks was a Youth Minister for 7 years and in 1998 began traveling the country sharing the Gospel to teenagers, college students, and adults. He holds a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and resides in Levelland, Texas. He and his amazing wife Joanna, have two awesome grown kids.
Originally from the Pacific Northwest, Sixteen Cities began as a student ministry in a public high school in Portland, Oregon. As freshmen, band founders Josiah Warneking and Josh Miller felt called to reach their friends and peers for Christ. So they started a worship and prayer ministry that met before school every week. God moved in such a powerful way that hundreds of students began to come and worship Jesus, and a fire for serving the Lord through music began to form in the band. After graduating high school in 2004, the band decided to go into full time ministry and began traveling around the country as Sixteen Cities.
Over the next few years, Sixteen Cities began to record and release original music while touring the Northwest. In 2008, the band signed a record contract with Centricity Music in Nashville and began touring nationwide. Sixteen Cities’ debut album with the label showcased a new sound and direction for the band, including several songs that reached the Top 20 in Christian music. Sixteen Cities released two more albums with Centricity before deciding to focus exclusively on worship music. “Our heart was never to be performers, but to point our generation to Jesus through authentic and passionate worship,” says lead singer Josiah Warneking. “We all felt God calling us to take a step of faith and move to a church in Texas and lead worship on a weekly basis.” In 2012, Sixteen Cities relocated to Dallas, Texas where they became the contemporary worship band for The Heights Baptist in Richardson, TX. In 2015, the band released their most recent worship album, entitled The Depth of Your Love.
Sixteen Cities has continued to follow God’s call on their lives, with new members joining over the last few years. The band now represents multiple churches throughout the Dallas area, including The Heights, First Baptist Richardson, and Gateway Church. Although heavily committed to their local churches, the members of Sixteen Cities come together as a band to bring their passionate and unique expression of music to people all over the world.
